THINGS TO DO FOR NON-GOLFING COMPANIONS

The Legends Invitational offers something for everyone—wives and companions not playing golf are able to enjoy all the amenities of Pebble Beach Resorts and the surrounding areas. A day at the unrivaled Spa at Pebble Beach, horseback riding in Carmel Valley, a trip to Big Sur, sights of Cannery Row and Fisherman’s Wharf in Old Monterey or every woman’s favorite: shopping in the quaint village of Carmel.

Our guests travel globally to attend and holiday with us along the magnificent 17-Mile Drive coastline. They come not only for the world-renown courses, but also for the camaraderie and fun experienced by all. Whether they are a “Celebrity Captain”, golfing enthusiast or a non-golfing companion playing in the Legends Invitational will leave you with memories of a lifetime.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The tournament consists of three days of play, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A five-man team will play each course: Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, and Spanish Bay. You will play with a celebrity captain each day. The format will be a combined best two balls, low gross & low net, of the five-some for the score. The low gross & net cannot be the same ball. When playing with a celebrity captain you may use his ball as one of the best balls.

Your team will be assigned tee times for each day of play at all three courses. Local rules will apply. Cards will be marked with strokes where they fall. The maximum handicap is 18. Handicaps are determined from the White and Red tees, slope rating, from each course. The pro shop at The Inn at Spanish Bay will handle all scoring.

To be eligible for a prize, all scorecards must be turned in immediately after play to the Pebble Beach Golf Links Pro Shop.

TOURNAMENT POLICY

To make the tournament a fun and fair golf experience we have created a scoring committee: Admiral David Bill, Brian Kelley, and host professionals at Pebble Beach Resorts. Based upon their recommendation to keep intact the integrity of the tournament and the Pebble Beach Resorts below are the tournament rules.

  1. All handicaps and/or indexes must be validated by Club Pro or GHIN registration.

  2. All players with an invalidated handicap or index will be given a “0” handicap.

  3. All players with invalidated handicaps net and gross scores at end of each day will be evaluated.

  4. All players with invalidated handicaps will not be allowed to submit a NET score of more than five (5) strokes under par for any given day.

  5. Any player with non-established handicap, who is well-known and/or believed to be of credible integrity, the Tournament Director may assign said handicap.

  6. The maximum handicap allowed is “18”.

  7. If a player does not finish the hole or elects to pick-up a maximum score of a double bogey will be applied.

  8. Any player submitting a score more than five (5) under par net may be subject to a revaluation of their handicap by the tournament committee.
